At The PlayGround we aspire to give you and your child the instruments for learning, play, and building community. In addition to these fundamentals we are also very aware that every caregiver could use some relaxation and rejuvenation.
There are many wonderful benefits of massage. Total relaxation is the main focus for our caregivers. In addition to that, you can enjoy the benefits of reduced stress and anxiety, reduced muscle tension, decreased blood pressure and increased circulation, better range of motion and flexibility - just to name a few.
Whether you are a veteran massage client or this is your first massage, as a therapist I like to talk you through the types of massage I offer and what they entail. It is very important to me that you fully understand what we offer.
Swedish: This massage will relax your whole body as we focus on calm, long, gliding strokes. Includes sports and geriatric massage.
Prenatal: During the second and third trimesters of pregnancy this massage will assist to relieve the aches and pains of stretching skin, elongating muscles, tension, anxiety, and tiredness. Please ensure you consult your doctor before prenatal massage.
Postpartum: This massage will attend to the new stresses of being a mother (or father) by attending to the new aches and pains of lifting baby, nursing baby, staying awake with baby. Again, please ensure you consult your doctor before postpartum massage.
Deep Tissue: This massage is similar to a Swedish massage in that it will relax your whole body and the strokes are similar; however, we will work deep into the muscle by increasing the pressure of the strokes.
Infant: This massage is something I will teach you and/or your partner to preform on your baby. The skin to skin contact is extremely important for bonding with your baby. This is a very short massage and can easily be worked into a wake up or bedtime routine.
